Remember the day I flew home from Colorado?

“at midnight I will rise to give thanks to You”

Psalm 119:62

Remember the day I flew home from Colorado?

Oh, wait, that was today.  I had a wonderful week in a wonderful place learning wonderful things with wonderful people.

I also got knocked flat by altitude sickness.   So there’s that.

I’m exhausted and so glad to be home.  But I’m also thankful for so many things.  Like sunset, and mountains, and old friends and laughter.

And for small town cafes, and people who smile even when they’re working.

And for extroverts (what’s up with those people?!) and people who have hope no matter what they’re going through.

And for clouds and hailstones (when I’m safely indoors) and did I mention sunsets and mountains?

And for mule deer and hawks and alpacas and tiny rabbits who think they’re hiding from you.

And for cold breezes and fog rolling in and when it’s so cold you can see your breath.

And for thoughtful people and military folk and a new dish (Hawaiian meatballs) that I just have to make at home now!

And for wi-fi and ibuprofen and cool looking sticks found on a hike.

And for earphones and laughter and people who say “y’all“.

And for the view of the earth from a window seat:  snow-covered mountains and the tops of clouds and stars at eye-level.

And because 1 Thessalonians 5 tells us to be thankful in all things:  for altitude sickness.

  1. I don’t know what some of the newer versions say, but my old King James does not say, “For everything give thanks” — it says, “In everything give thanks” ! Therefore, thank God while you are in altitude sickness, but not necessarily for altitude sickness ! That’s the official Rhymeswithplague Standard Version….
