“My flesh and my heart fail;
But God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26

My boy had a hockey game today. We lost. It was a good game, though.
I say that about all of them, though, regardless of whether we win or lose….
I say things like, “That was a great play,” even when the goalie stopped it. And one might wonder, how could it be a good play if the goalie stopped it? Isn’t the whole point, to get it past the goalie?
Well, yes, but there are a lot of things that go into making a great shot or play. Teamwork, timing, puckhandling, checking, passing… You can get all of those right, and still have the goalie make a great play. In which case you didn’t achieve your ultimate goal, but you still have something to be proud of. After all, God never told us to “succeed”; He only told us to obey.
There is no failure that is not accompanied by successes, however small. Sometimes many. And they’re not necessarily even small successes; it’s just that our eyes are often on the “failure”.
Good thing it’s His eyes that matter, not ours.
I love your statement that there is no failure that is not accompanied by successes, however small. I will try to keep that in mind going forward!
