As you begin this new year, 2015, I want to share a verse that I think is perfect for facing a new chapter. It’s Matthew 5:44-45.
“But I say to you, love your enemies,
bless those who curse you,
do good to those who hate you,
and pray for those
who spitefully use you and persecute you,
that you may be sons of your Father in heaven;
for He makes His sun rise
on the evil and on the good,
and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.”
The first part of this verse is the idea New Year’s resolution: love, bless, do good, and pray. Not that hard, right? Oh, wait ~ this is all about people we don’t like. Not so easy.
And the second part is a great reminder of what this year holds for each of us: the sun will rise on the evil and the good, and the rain will fall on the just and unjust alike. Expect difficulties. And expect joy. And never forget that He has a plan, and that He is with you through it all.
