Truths

I believe it’s contraposition to say that if A = B, then -A = -B.  With that in mind, here are some statements in the Bible, and the logical conclusions of the obverse of those statements…  I found some interesting thoughts here….

For instance, if I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, (Philippians 4:13) then it is equally true that I can do nothing without Christ who strengthens me.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.  (Proverbs 3:5-6)  So of course if you do not trust in the Lord, or trust Him only partially… if you rely on your own understanding, then the road in front of you will be more difficult.

I have set the Lord always before me.  Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.  (Psalm 16:8)  But what if I have not set the Lord before me?  If He is not at my right hand, I will be shaken.

Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you.  (Psalm 55:22)  Do not cast your cares on Him, and He will not sustain you.

He will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are stayed on Him.  (Isaiah 26:3)  And He will not keep in perfect peace those whose minds are focused elsewhere.

I call on the Lord in my distress, and He answers me.  (Psalm 120:1)  I did not call upon the Lord, and so He did not answer.

Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.  (Isaiah 40:30)  But those who hope is not in the Lord will be weak and fatigued.

Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.  (Matthew 11:29)  For those who don’t come to Him, rest will prove elusive.

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.  (Psalm 23:4)  Yes Lord, and in the darkest days of my life, if You are not with me, I am very, very afraid.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  (1 John 1:9)  And if we don’t, well… you do the math…

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  Romans 10:9
